If you can dream it, I can plan it.

I recently visited my hometown of Ottawa, Ontario and was able to capture some really beautiful sites along the Rideau Canal.

The Rideau Canal, connects Canada’s capital city of Ottawa, on the Ottawa River to the city of Kingston, Ontario, on Lake Ontario. It is 202 kilometres or roughly 125 miles in length.

I did a little research for this post and discovered that the canal was opened in 1832 as a precaution in case of war with the United States. It remains in use today primarily for pleasure boating.  It is the oldest continuously operated canal system in North America, and in 2007 it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Long before Paris’ Pont Des Art bridge’s recent love locks removal, in late summer of 2014 I discovered this make-shift version growing downtown, spanning the Rideau Canal between the University of Ottawa and Somerset St. where a new ‘Corkstown’ pedestrian bridge was built to allow access from one side of the canal to the other.

On this recent trip I noticed, like a love note, the message has being passed around and the ‘love’ is growing!

I continued running along the canal with my purple Nike’s and my Ipod blasting a mix of Beyonce, TLC and How to Dress Well.

By the way…I really need a great running mix.  If you know of any I can download, hit me up!

I wrapped up my run at the Isabella bridge and was able to capture a time lapse of a boat passing through.

Are you aware of other ‘lover’s bridges’?  If so, leave a note below!
