If you can dream it, I can plan it.

The MotelLuxe Airstream: A rural leap

This is basically a story about the BEST Airbnb stay I’ve had to date!

The review left on my Airbnb page read that I was “… an urban traveler who took a rural leap” and was I ever glad we took that leap!!!  The following is about my stay at the “MotelLuxe” Airstream in La Pêche (pronounce Lah P’eh-shhh) in Québec (pronounced Kay-Beck), Canada.

About an hour flight from NYC to Ottawa and then a 45 min drive to MotelLuxe!

We were looking for a place to stay in Ottawa and decided to take a chance on an Airstream 40 mins north of the city.  We were surprised it was available and booked at the MotelLuxe the same day we arrived.  It was actually kind of far from where we wanted to visit but we decided that an experience would win over convenience (YOLO LOL).

The pictures on Airbnb looked cool, we had never stayed in an Airsteam before and the amenities made it sound like we wouldn’t be in anything less than a hotel room.  Turns out the only difference was that this hotel happened to be on wheels!

The hosts were seriously awesome people – Lori & Philippe accommodated us with a (very) last minute booking, they allowed us to stay one night versus the 2 night minimum AND they waited up for us until we arrived at 1130pm, which we really appreciated!

All we knew is that the MotelLuxe Airsteam was parked off of the couple’s driveway, across from the main house.  This was all we could see!

This is inside the MotelLuxe – facing the living room/kitchen table.

It wasn’t until the morning when the glory of our surroundings became apparent.

We woke up to Philippe setting up our chairs on the deck.

We had no idea how cute and beautiful the property was!

THE most relaxing place on earth was found RIGHT HERE, steps from the MotelLuxe Airstream.

A deck with 2 chairs over looking the sky, the fields and the hills

The Airstream itself came equipped with 2 tvs, wifi, a BBQ with an outdoor seating area, a microwave and a VERY comfy bed but it was everything else that made our stay memorable…

1) The hosts – so friendly and thoughtful.

2) The view & surroundings – so peaceful.

3) The European continental breakfast plates left in the fridge for us – a perfect touch since we weren’t close to much.

The plate of eggs, cherries, cheese and home made breads were enjoyed on the deck over looking the fields.

and….last but not least the OUTDOOR SHOWER!  Fammmmm!  It was so FREEING to shower surrounded by trees, bushes, leaves and twigs!  We were actually nekked in the wilderness!

We even took a shower out in the back…yes there was an outdoor shower!

All the bathing products they provided were eco-friendly and Lori also made some bath products we ended up purchasing when we left, less than 24hrs after our arrival.

Philippe made a video showing off the whole property – check it out HERE.  It is about 9min long but it is a really good review of the property.  Check out the shower at the 7:40 mark!

Overall, it was apparent that they had considered everything that would make for an enjoyable stay.

We wish we would have stayed longer – it is a regret we carry with us to this day.

Please, if you want a couples getaway – consider this amazing Airbnb find which is only 25 mins from downtown Ottawa in the Gatineau Hills region of Québec, Canada.  It would be best to book during the summer months in order to enjoy the outdoors.

Make a weekend out of it and visit the Casino Lac Leamy (translates to Lake Leamy in English), dinner in downtown Ottawa’s historic Byward Market and some extra zen time at Le Nordik Spa which is North America’s largest spa.

Thank you again to MotelLuxe super hosts Lori & Philippe!

The garage on the property had a fireplace, held bicycles for use and has Lori’s bath products on display. All this as French music played over the radio adding to the whole experience.

The bed was way more comfortable than I imagined for a hotel on wheels
