🏰 Fairmont Le Château Montebello: A true Canadian luxury retreat, set in the great outdoors
Tucked just east of Quebec’s Outaouais region, Fairmont Le Château Montebello isn’t just a resort—it’s a whole vibe. Imagine rustic log cabin charm served with a side of five-star luxury. But don’t get it twisted—this isn’t your typical glamping situation. This place has history, and a whole lot of wow-factor.
Originally built as an exclusive retreat for private club members, this colossal cabin officially opened to the public in 1971—and it’s been winning hearts (and Instagram feeds) ever since. With over 40 activities on offer year-round, there’s something here for literally everyone. Whether you’re into dogsledding, spa lounging, or pretending you’re in a Hallmark movie, Montebello delivers.
Oh, and let’s not forget the crown jewel: this cabin is officially the world’s largest log building. Yep, the entire thing is made of logs, and it’s been turning heads since 1930. Iconic? Absolutely. Timber couture? You know it LOL!
I finally got the chance to visit, along with my little one, a good friend Jeneka, her tween T and as a crew we all got to experience ✨Montebello magic✨!
We drove 5.5hrs from Toronto to Montebello, Quebec and enjoyed a few nights at this magical resort! Take a peak at my IG post that gives you a broad review of a winter experience.

🦌 What to See and Do at Parc Omega
1. Drive-Through Safari (12 km loop) was our fave part!!! : Drive through a scenic (and some times hectic!) journey through forests, meadows, and lakes, where you can observe over 20 species of North American wildlife, including elk, bison, wolves, and moose. Visitors often have the opportunity to feed carrots to friendly animals that approach their vehicles. We had MANY laughs feeding the animals! See pics below!
2. Walking Trails and Seasonal Activities: Explore several walking trails that meander through the park’s diverse habitats. Depending on the season, activities such as snowshoeing, tube sliding, and sleigh dog demonstrations are available. We went on a tractor ride.
3. First Nations Trail: This trail showcases the history and culture of Quebec’s 11 First Nations through totem poles and interpretive signage, providing an educational experience amidst the natural surroundings.
4. Land of the Pioneers: Step back in time to experience life in early Quebec, with a reconstructed trading post, pioneer camp, and opportunities to interact with farm animals.
5. Wildlife Observatories: Visit the wolf observatory to witness these majestic creatures up close, and enjoy bird of prey shows featuring species like bald eagles. We saw some wolf in this area.
Parc Omega also has accommodations. We didn’t take advantage of them but there are “Wolf Cabins” with panoramic windows overlooking the wolf enclosures. There are also Tipis and Cabins available from spring through fall.
Parc Omega is open daily year-round, making it a perfect complement to your stay at Fairmont Le Château Montebello.
