If you can dream it, I can plan it.

Resto: SOCO and SOCO ToGo

I had the pleasure of meeting Valerie (Delta Toronto) for lunch at the newly opened SoCo Kitchen & Bar attached to the brand new Delta Toronto Hotel.

It is conveniently located between the iconic Rogers Center (Skydome – home to the Toronto Argos and the Toronto Blue Jays), CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium and the ACC (Air Canada Centre – home to The Toronto Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs) at Lower Simcoe & Bremner Blvd. which is not far from Steam Whistle Brewery, Front Street, King Street and Queens Quay.

It is also named after the new financial area called “SOCO” which stands for “South Core”.

They offer 3 separate menus for each meal time (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).  We shared the CHEESE PLATTER of artisanal / preserves / crostini $15 (pictured above) and the WARM EGGPLANT + BURRATA with white anchovy / tomato sumac – $13 (ate it too quick for a pic!).  I could have devoured the eggplant starter all by myself and had for that reason, had no shame in finishing the last bit when Valerie offered it, haha!

I didn’t want to be too full so I ordered the CHICKEN + CHICKPEA SALAD -$19 which also came with ricotta (not listed on the menu description) but I wasn’t about to turn down MORE CHEESE!

It was a tough call between the PUMPKIN WALNUT CHEESECAKE $8 and the CHOCOLATE POT DE CRÈME $8 but for desert I choose the SEA SALT and CARAMEL  HOUSE CHURNED ICE CREAM $7 (tastes better than it looks) and Valerie insisted I try the perfectly made french pastry called the PARIS-BREST which she explained the former Ritz-Carlton Pastry Chef made to perfection.  It was almond toasted, crunchy and the braided filling, like silk.  This item wasn’t on the Lunch menu but make sure to ask for it!

Other than being an all-occasion casual space with a flew flat screens around the bar, the highlight has got to be “SOCO To Go” area which is a 24hr grab-and-go style restaurant.  After a night out, when you don’t feel like eating greasy Chinese food or want to deal with the lack-luster service at that diner in that other hotel (you know that one…) have your Uber take a spin a couple blocks South!
