If you can dream it, I can plan it.

Travel Massive Meet-Up: Germany and Berlin

Last week, I walked over to Mill Street Brewery’s Beer Hall in Toronto’s Distillery District to not only catch up with the Travel Massive crew (which I look forward to each month) but to indulge and learn about Germany and Berlin as they prepare to celebrate their 25th Anniversary as a reunified country on Oct 3rd.

It wasn’t long after I arrived that drinks and our group’s monthly catch-up session was in full swing! The food and our drink selections (German beer and Riesling) were so good!  Mill Street Brewery created a custom menu with the Tourism folks and everything was LECKER (delicious in German)!

Wild Boar Bratwurst Sliders topped w/ Sauerkraut & Grainy Mustard. I don’t eat sausage but I made an exception on this occasion.

Antje was one of the event hosts.  She was representing Germany and did a GREAT job!  She was so funny and entertaining.  In this clip she walks us through the way Germans “cheers” or “toast” with a drink.  PROST!

Honestly, before this event, I really hadn’t considered visiting Germany/Berlin.  I find that Europe (which isn’t cheap to fly to) has so many countries to choose from and they each offer so much as far as food, culture, history, etc… but what I learned during this event and what really stood out is how Germans, with a focus on people from Berlin, embrace individualism and the arts.  Now you are speaking to my heart!  Both the Tourism Germany and the visitBerlin presentations really left me intrigued, inspired and definitely left an impression.
