WOW
WONDERFUL
WONDERLUST
All great words starting with “W” have made their way to this new property (opened in 2008) just down the street from the great shopping at Scottsdale’s Fashion Square, across from Old Town Scottsdale and to a quiet, yet emerging part of town.

Scottsdale is not a party town by far but the W Scottsdale sure did make its mark with this new hot spot in the desert.
The W Scottsdale hotel was a pit-stop for me before headed north to The Boulders Resort in Carefree during my week in Arizona.
Under the guise of checking it out for work (my company and W Hotels are partners), I was able to do a complete walk-through of the facilities with a sales director which included a tour of the restaurants, bars, a variety of guest rooms and I even discovered many other highlights on my own.
I was there by myself, which kind of sucked but I made the best of my time by reading a 944 magazine in the lobby, browsed through their “W Hotels the Store” store and used the gym facility. Speaking of the gym, I REALLY loved the openness of the room and enjoyed working out in the cool dry air.
True to W Hotels’ DNA, this location was hip, cool and was cleverly designed for its location. The building sits very low in the desert landscape and has many touches to accent its luxurious zip code.
I was really impressed with the amount of space (largest rooms that I have seen at any W Hotels I’ve been to), the floating plasmas, full room length bathrooms and overall room layouts but it wasn’t the best W stay I’ve had. I figure that it is probably in large part due to the fact that I was sans-amies during this part of my AZ trip. To kill time in the evening I toured around the Shade Bar and Wet Deck area and after one comp’ed drink, I got one more for the road and I returned to my room and listened to the party continue downstairs.
From the sales staff I met on the first day to the the spa attendants at the Bliss spa, everyone was so very friendly, helpful, informed and accommodating.
So to summarize my trip to the W Scottsdale…it was fab.
Their rooms we WONDERFUL, the atmosphere WOW’ed me and I would go back in a WINK – just next time I’d bring some friends!
…on to the Boulders!
